Storm and Foul Water Drainage

Specialists in Storm and Foul Water Drainage

We offer a comprehensive range of storm and foul water drainage Northampton services working with pipework between 100mm and 3m. We can tackle deep drainage at any designed depth and also carry out highway drainage projects.

Whether you need drainage storage systems, live sewer diversions and connections or a pumping station wet well installation, you can rely on us to get the job done to the highest possible standard. We understand the importance of effective drainage systems, and will go the extra mile for our clients to ensure that we put in place solutions that resolve the issues that they are experiencing.

We provide foul water and storm drainage Northampton installation services for a wide range of clients, and undertake projects varying from large-scale industrial schemes to small drainage connections.

Thanks to the expertise of our workforce and the high-quality plant equipment that we use, as well as our full accreditation as drainage network installers, we are capable of taking all of your drainage requirements right through from their design phase to adopted by local water boards.

Foul water drainage networks are a system of pumps, chambers, and pipes that discharge the foul water from inside a building, and carrying it into the sewage treatment networks. Drainage systems in homes are connected to public sewers and take away waste water from sinks, baths, toilets, dishwashers, showers, and washing machines, carrying it through aboveground pipework and into the drainage network underground.

There are several systems that we can install to manage this foul water drainage including pumped and gravity systems, adoptable and privately owned systems, and storage tanks.

Gravity foul water drainage systems are the best engineering solution to deal with discharged foul water thanks to their low maintenance and cost-effectiveness. By laying pipes at a gradient, gravity can pull the waste water downwards through the network without any need for further mechanical aid. A gravity system requires no power supply and has a long lifespan as long as it is properly maintained.

Pumped foul drainage networks are used when the invert level is unfavourable, for example, when the location where waste water is collected or generated is lower than that location where it will be discharged to the network. As water cannot flow uphill, the network cannot use gravity to ensure waste water will flow to its discharge point and so a mechanical pump must be used to generate sufficient pressure to overcome this level difference and to push the water in the right direction towards the sewer. Of course, a power supply is necessary for this type of system, along with regular monitoring and maintenance.

While foul water drainage systems remove the waste water from buildings via above ground pipes to the sewers, storm water drainage takes away rainwater which has collected in gullies, gutters, channels, and ditches whenever it falls on external surfaces like drives, roofs, pavements and roads. It will then be discharged through a set of ditch and pipe networks to one of the local watercourses to reduce the chance of flooding occurring.

Since storm water isn’t contaminated, it can be discharged safely into natural water courses like rivers or lakes without causing any harm.

We’re also experienced in the installation of wet well pumping stations for a broad spectrum of private and commercial projects. We can evaluate the usage of your sewer pumping system and advise on its construction and design to support the needs of your project while fitting into your designated budget. Of course, it also goes without saying that we will provide our services to the very highest safety and quality standards within the industry.

Wet well pumping stations are composed of a large tank, or wet well, which acts to receive sewage from buildings. The sewage remains inside the well until the level has reached a certain height. Once this level has been reached, the sewage is pressurised via a pump to move out of the tank to the point where it will enter into the main sewer.

Wet well pumping stations are needed when it would be too expensive to manage the groundworks that would allow gravity-flow of waste water to the sewer. These waste water solutions are easy to install and as the sewage is automatically pumped with no need for human contact, there are no health issue risks to worry about. With alarms fitted into the system, alerts will be received regarding any issues in the system, thus minimising any change of sewage overflows.

We can carry out drainage assessments, install interceptors, carry out flood alleviation works, maintain and construct culverts, and perform other associated major and minor civil works to meet our clients’ specific requirements.
